Indonesia is located in equator line with it’s avarage temperature is 35°C. Its humidity is high, it can reach 85% (hot humid tropical climate). There are two things that cause extreme climate. Firstly the position between 2 continent and two ocean. Secondly big different between the area of continent and ocean. This condition makes disadvantage for human being in doing their activities becaused of up and down of the temperature that is not comfort for the human body. The best range of temperature for Indonesian people in doing their activities is 22,8°C - 25,8°C and the humidity 70%. Easiest step to create thermal comfort in building is using air condition system. How ever it affects to the electrical energy used. This paper proposes to solve the thermal comfort in building by architectural solution, designing building by considering orientation to wind direction and sun, using of architecture element and building material, and also elements of landscape. sti-jul2005- (26)

Abstract The purpose of this paper is to get acquainted readers with rich experience of Russian architects in the field of designing residential buildings in extremely cold areas. To approve effectiveness of proposed solution we compared energy consumption of residential houses with two different shapes of shell – typical building and innovative energy-efficient building designed especially for the Russian North. Research method is based on simulation process in eQUEST software that provided detailed reports on all aspects of building energy-efficiency and allowed to determine amount of consumed energy.

In the era of climate changes, one of the most important challenges of architectural designing is a reduction of energy consumption in buildings for heating and cooling purposes. A significant component of the energy balance of buildings is passive solar heat gains, the amount of which depends, among other things, on the mutual location of buildings. The article discusses the preliminary research on the possibilities of achieving energy savings of buildings at the stage of urban design in Polish legal and climatic conditions. The study includes the analysis of several variants of the layout of buildings located at the same plot.

This article is devoted to global trends in the development of energy efficient architecture. The article discusses the design of energy efficient buildings from the standpoint of bioclimatic architecture. It is shown that the main link in climate adaptation and energy saving should be the enclosing structure the facade system.

The spring 2001 issue of Interface pointed at the imminent dangers to humankind associated with global climate changes, due to excessive use of fossil fuel, and argued strongly for the role of electrochemistry and photochemistry in benign technology devised to alleviate some of these dangers. The examples put forward in Interface included fuel cells, carbon dioxide sequestration, etc. This contribution emphasizes the possibilities of electrochromic smart windows for diminishing the need for electrically driven air conditioning and hence for energy efficiency, along with enhanced comfort, in buildings. The electrochromic smart window is capable of varying its transmittance upon charge insertion/extraction in electrochemically active materials—normally being thin film based on transition metal oxides.
