    Specific energy consumption analysis of the integrated steel plants in Turkey was performed in this study by using the data of 2003-2005. Specific energy consumptions of three integrated steel plants were determined as follows: 30.3 GJ/TCS for Karabuk Iron Steel Works Co.; 29.8 GJ/TCS for Iskenderun Iron Steel Works Co.; and 21.5 GJ/TCS for Eregli Iron Steel Works Co. The results of the specific energy consumption analysis indicated that Eregli Iron Steel Works Co. (Erdemir) has the lowest specific energy consumption for steelmaking process in Turkey. The energy structure and management processes providing sustainability in Erdemir integrated steel plant was presented in detail. WOS: 000275287600007

Energy plays a key role for the comfort needs of passengers and the safe operation of aircraft. In airports with high energy consumption areas, energy management allows the reduction of both costs and environmental impacts. Therefore, the phenomena that affect energy consumption in airports need to be identified. In this study, the factors affecting energy consumption in airport terminal buildings were determined by regression analysis and mathematically modeling. In addition, energy-induced Global Warming Potential (GWP) was determined and its change was explained mathematically. It was seen that with each change in passenger causes a 1.59 kWh energy and 1.44 kg CO2 eq. change. However, each increase in the number of degree days causes a 3468.6kWh energy and 1428 kg CO2eq. increase.     Abstract An understanding of complex interactions among energy, environmental, and economic activities is important for making decisions to support sustainable economic development and environmental protection. Energy models at global, national, and provincial levels are effective tools used for examining these interactions. However, these models are inadequate for a city-cluster jurisdiction such as the Toronto-Niagara Region (TNR), Canada, which has unique economic and energy characteristics. The objective of this study is to develop a City-cluster Energy Systems Planning Model (CCEM) and apply it to the TNR as a case study. It is demonstrated that the model can be effectively used for supporting energy planning, environmental management, and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in a city-cluster jurisdiction.

    Abstract An understanding of complex interactions among energy, environmental, and economic activities is important for making decisions to support sustainable economic development and environmental protection. Energy models at global, national, and provincial levels are effective tools used for examining these interactions. However, these models are inadequate for a city-cluster jurisdiction such as the Toronto-Niagara Region (TNR), Canada, which has unique economic and energy characteristics. The objective of this study is to develop a City-cluster Energy Systems Planning Model (CCEM) and apply it to the TNR as a case study. It is demonstrated that the model can be effectively used for supporting energy planning, environmental management, and greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction in a city-cluster jurisdiction.
